J. Lee Buffington, founder and president of Turf Tamer, Inc., is one of only 4 Certified Landscape Professionals in the state of Alabama.

The CLP program is designed to test the skills and knowledge of the landscape professional; to have this achievement and professional designation recognized in the eyes of the public and the green industry; and to provide a means of continuing education for the certified professional.

PLANET’S certification program promotes the growth and credibility of the interior and exterior landscape industries. It provides recognition to individuals engaged in the business of landscape contracting. The objectives of the program are:

• To raise the standards of the profession;
  
• To encourage self-assessment by offering guidelines for achievement;
  
• To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of principles and practices of the profession;
  
• To award recognition to those who have demonstrated a high level of competence in the profession;
