THE HISTORY OF TURF TAMER, INC.

 

In January of 1995, while in high school, Lee Buffington began cold calling property owners.  After three months of calling – you could say that Turf Tamer, Inc. was officially in business.  Like most start up businesses not a lot of thought was put into the operational phases.  After the sale of the work, the production needed to begin but Lee did not have a lawn mower capable of servicing all the lawns to be mowed.  A friend of the family, George Boydston, surprised Lee and purchased a used 44” Woods zero turn mower for $600 (To this day George has never let Lee repay that).  Unfortunately, the mower did not work properly when purchased but after another $600 and a lot of help from Lee’s dad it was working great.  After one season in business Lee decided to make investments into additional equipment to increase efficiency.  Along with a second lawn mower came the first team members.  We began experiencing growth and it has never slowed down.  While in college, Lee decided to make a change from his course of medical school to pursue his newly found passion for the Green Industry.

Lee Buffington, founder and president, is involved in the daily operations of Turf Tamer, Inc.  He works with all of the sales and design teams while continuing to work with the operations teams to improve techniques and production levels.  Although these areas require much of his time, his primary focus is team building.  The “Turf Tamer Philosophy” of enhancing client relationships through integrity, professionalism, quality, and ethical standards is reflective everyday with each team member.  Our team members take a professional approach in all that we do by using the latest innovations in equipment and techniques and the great looking uniforms that our teams are wearing when they arrive at your property.  We will be there with well maintained vehicles and equipment, thanks to our Fleet Manager John Donaldson.  Our teams are focused on the foundation in which we live, our community.  Our people have the biggest hearts and share their time, knowledge, and energy on projects that benefit us all.
